Day of the Indigenous!

Costa Rica's National Holiday recognizing Indigenous Culture was celebrated with excitement at El Puente.

Day of the Indigenous on April 19 has been a national holiday in Costa Rica for over 40 years. But despite this area’s huge native population, it has hardly been celebrated or observed in the Talamanca region… until now!

The BriBri Community Came together in celebration of their traditional games, stories, dance and practices. We finished the day with a meaningful cacao ceremony, led by tribal leader Timoteo Jackson and his family.
